Observatories don't just house telescopes! 🔬

Observatories contain a wide variety of scientific devices such as radio telescopes, gamma-ray detectors, spectrographs, and laser measurement systems.

The best observatories are not at sea level, but at the peaks of mountains! 🏔️

Observatories are usually built at high altitudes (3000m and above).

Extraterrestrial signals were first noticed in an observatory! 📡

In 1977, the "Big Ear" radio telescope at Ohio State University caught a strong radio signal known as the "Wow! signal".

There are observatories in space too! 🌠

The most well-known ones: Hubble Space Telescope (NASA/ESA), James Webb Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray Observatory.

Hubble Space Telescope: Memory of Space 🔭

Launched in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has made more than 1.5 million observations to date, resulting in about 50 terabytes of data collected.

The James Webb Space Telescope is the most expensive observatory in human history. 🌌

Costing over $10 billion, this telescope with its 6.5-meter diameter gold-plated mirror can look back 13.5 billion years.

Let's Get to Know the Solar System

Sun

The central star of our solar system provides light and heat to all planets.

Neptune

Neptune, the eighth and most distant planet of the solar system, is known for its strong magnetic field and winds.

Uranus

Uranus, the seventh planet of the solar system, stands out with its sideways rotational axis.

Saturn

Saturn, the sixth planet of the solar system, is known for its impressive ring system.

Jupiter

Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, is famous for its massive gas body and Great Red Spot.

Mars

Mars, known as the Red Planet, is considered the planet most similar to Earth.

Earth

Earth, the only planet known to harbor life, is special with its liquid water and livable atmosphere.

Venus

Venus, the hottest planet in the solar system, is characterized by its dense atmosphere and greenhouse effect.

Mercury

Mercury, the closest and smallest planet to the Sun, experiences extreme temperature changes.
